You need to mentally prepare to spend a whole day on a safari drive to get the best experience. Sometimes, you may not see the animals you had in mind, but waiting a bit longer or taking your time in the park can make all the difference.
Here’s how to have a fantastic self drive in a park:
- Get up early and have a hearty breakfast
- Start your safari at sunrise
- Carry healthy snacks and water
- Check your tire pressure, and add if necessary to 1.6 or reduce if it reads higher. The goal is to have traction as you drive on sand or gravel
- Be ready to go through checks and pay park fees as you start your safari
- When in the park, avoid getting out of your car. Only step out in designated areas
- The park is dusty, so some may get into your car
