Sao Tomé and Príncipe, located on the Equator in the Gulf of Guinea, is an island country in Central Africa. This island group consists of two main islands, Sao Tomé, and Principe, and several rocky islets, such as Rôlas on Sao Tomé and Caroço, Pedras, and Tinhosas on Principe. 

The country shares similar features with the Seychelles as one of the smallest islands in Africa. One of its national dishes is arroz doce. If you plan to visit soon, you’ll need a travel guide on this beautiful island.

How to Prepare Arroz Doce of Sao Tome & Principe

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Pour one cup of rice into a cooking pot
  2. Add one liter of water
  3. Stir the mixture, cover halfway, and allow to boil
  4. Check after 15 minutes. You’ll notice the rice has absorbed the water.
  5. Add the liters of fresh milk to the pot and stir
  6. Add the glass of coconut milk
  7. Add the bowl of sour cream
  8. Add the bowl of condensed milk
  9. Stir, cover the pot halfway, and allow to boil for 20 minutes
  10. Stir and serve in a dessert glass or breakfast bowl.
  11. Sprinkle powdered cinnamon to taste
  12. You can also add the cinnamon stick in the middle of the arroz doce.
