Over the years, the list hasn’t changed drastically except for the fact that LeBron James accumulated his points in a record-breaking fashion and is now the highest scorer in the NBA’s history. His mark is unlikely to be surpassed any time soon considering that Jabbar’s record stood for over 30 years. Let’s find out the highest scorers in descending order.

Malone isn’t the most prominent name on the list but his numbers speak for themselves. He mostly played for the Utah Jazz and later with the Los Angeles Lakers. He never won the NBA but played in two finals and lost to the Chicago Bulls. Nonetheless, his scoring abilities were well known and was twice the NBA Most Valuable Player.

He was the all-time leading scorer for 30 years, having retired in 1989 with the most points. Jabbar won his first championship with the Milwaukee Bucks and the other five with the Los Angeles Lakers. He raked up a long list of stats, including the scoring champion twice and the rebound leader in 1976. Jabbar was known for his skyhook shot and raked 38,387 points.

1. LeBron James – 39,380

Who’ll ever catch him? He’s the only player to have crossed the 39,000 points mark in the regular season and is still going. King James can rack up as many points and make it to 40,000 points. He’s 39 years old but still has lots left in the tank for a few more seasons. Wherever he stops, it takes a herculean task for the other players to get close to his total points.

These are the players with the most number of points in the NBA regular season. The one quality all these players share is consistency, so they’ve gathered all these points.
