National Basketball Association (NBA) players court attention, good and bad. Some of its players have run-ins with the law for violations ranging from assault to drug abuse. More often than not, their teams punish them through monetary fines. Due to their status, most players are egotistical and think they can get away with anything. However, some have found themselves in trouble with the law.

Draymond Green
In 2016, Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green was arrested for battery and assault. The crime took place at Michigan State, where the basketballer played before joining the Golden State Warriors.
They released him on a $200 bond, reached a plea agreement, and ordered him to pay a $560 fine. It barred the player from coming close to the victim for a year. Green risked spending 90 days in jail before this plea.

Montrezl Harrell
In 2022, Montrezl faced felony charges after they found him in possession of three pounds of marijuana. However, the court reduced the charges to misdemeanors after Montrezl pleaded guilty. This wiped the offence from his record, provided he’s not charged in the next year. The former Philadelphia 76ers faced up to 5 years behind bars.

Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant, perhaps one of the most high-profile NBA players, faced arrest on charges of sexual assault. In 2003, they arrested him on charges of sexual assault after a woman accused him of rape in a Colorado hotel. The late Bryant denied the charges and maintained they had consensual sex.
A jury was supposed to judge the case, but the woman withdrew, citing she couldn’t continue with the case. Reports indicate she received death threats. The former basketballer’s image took a hit after the case, but he put in work to rebuild it. Kobe died in a helicopter accident in 2020.

Keith Appling
Keith Appling is one of the many NBA players who’ve been arrested. For a player who had a promising career, it’s unfortunate that he’s now a convict after they found him guilty of second-degree murder. They sentenced Keith to between 18 and 40 years.
This came from a shooting that happened in May 2021, which resulted in the death of a man named Clyde Edmonds. Additionally, the disgraced basketballer will serve two more years for a felony charge.

Richard Jefferson
Richard Jefferson is one of the NBA players who’ve been arrested. In 2008, they charged him with assault after choking a man in Minneapolis. The victim held a birthday party in a cordoned section in a restaurant, something that angered the former basketballer. Jefferson currently works as a television sports pundit.
Taurean Prince
In August 2022, the Los Angeles Lakers power forward Taurean Prince joined the list of NBA players who’ve been arrested. They declared Prince an out-of-state fugitive after they found him using an expired car registration.
In addition to that, they caught him with a vape pen, two handguns, and marijuana. The basketballer was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and marijuana.
A lot of people look up to NBA players. They are a source of hope and demonstrate that you can be successful regardless of your background. However, some are completely different from their TV personas. They can be mean-spirited and not good role models for the public.
