When you think of football, you think of European football teams, which is understandable given that it is a developed region with some of the best teams in the world. Aside from that, football is increasingly being focused on and invested in other continents, like Africa, so many high-class players and excellent squads have gradually overwhelmed football’s influence. Black culture continues to have a significant impact on sports around the world.
The results are in, and teams from Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, and Morocco are the African teams set to compete in Qatar’s 2022 World Cup finals.

Following the engagements and experiences gained from their respective coaches, Ghana’s team, the Black Stars, has become one of Africa’s most successful teams. Their team is led by Captain André Morgan Rami Ayew and coached by Milovan Rajevac. The team has had many stars who have contributed to the team’s African success, such as Defenders Daniel Amartey and Emmanuel Lomotey, to name a few. So far, they’ve ranked 52nd in FIFA as of December 2021.
Ghana is set to play for the first time in Qatar 2022 on November 24 at 11 am against Portugal.
Senegal’s team is nicknamed The Lions of Teranga. They have some of the world’s most famous football players on their team. They have had successful AFCON appearances but have never won it. So far, they have made two appearances in the World Cup. Their first appearance was in 2002, and their most recent was in 2018. Their head coach is Alious Cisse and captain is Kalidou Koulibaly. So far, they’ve ranked 20th in FIFA as of December 2021.
Senegal is scheduled to play for the first time on November 21, 2022, at 5 am against the Netherlands for FIFA World Cup 2022.
Tunisia’s team is nicknamed “The Eagles of Carthage.” Tunisia’s national football team is one of the most successful in Africa. Their head coach is Mondher Kebaier and captain is Wahbi Khazri. So far, they’ve ranked 30th in FIFA as of December 2021.
Tunisia is scheduled to play for the first time on November 22, 2022, at 8 am against Denmark for FIFA World Cup 2022.

Cameroon’s team is nicknamed “The Indomitable Lions.” They have won nearly every continental competition with their highly talented squad. They have also had successful World Cup campaigns. In 1990, their best performance earned them a spot in the quarter-finals. Their head coach is Toni Conceicao, and the captain is Vincent Aboubakar. So far, they’ve ranked 50th in FIFA as of December 2021.
Cameroon is scheduled to play for the first time on November 24, 2022, at 5 am against Switzerland for FIFA World Cup 2022.
Morocco’s team is nicknamed “The Atlas Lions.” Participating in the World Cup is every Moroccan national football team player’s and fan’s dream. Their head coach is Vahid Halilhodzic, and the captain is Romain Saiss. So far, they’ve ranked 28th in FIFA as of December 2021.
Morocco is scheduled to play for the first time on November 23, 2022, at 5 am against Croatia for Qatar 2022.
