Jude Bellingham’s Club
The 19 years old English international joined the Spanish club Real Madrid for an initial fee of £88.5m. That figure could go up depending on the player’s performance. This means that the amount of money Los Blancos could spend on him would go up to £115 million, making him the most expensive British footballer.
Is Jude Bellingham’s Move to Real Madrid a Good Move?
When it comes to soccer, good can be relative unless you are a proven player like Messi or Ronaldo. At a young age, you can only be promising. Whether you go on and live to the expectation is another thing.
That said, for Real Madrid to pursue and sign you, you must be, at the very least, promising. And this is something that Jude Bellingham has shown.
He’s in a perfect age bracket (19) as Madrid’s recruitment strategy moved from buying stars (remember the Galacticos era) to opting for younger players. And this is because they can develop and hit their prime in white shirts.
Also, Bellingham joins Madrid at a time when their midfield has aged. Toni Kroos is 33, and Luka Modric is 37, so it is the perfect time for him to play alongside experienced players as the club sees out the old guard.
We know that Real Madrid isn’t the most patient club in the world. You have to be ready to hit the ground running. Thus it’ll be interesting to see how Bellingham settles in. Only time will tell whether this is a good move.

Jude Bellingham’s Early Career
Bellingham started his career at Birmingham City. In 2019, he debuted in a league cup game, making him the youngest player to play for Birmingham. That was the beginning of his meteoric rise.
By the end of the season, he featured in 41 Championship games, scored four goals. And he won the English Football League’s Young Player of the Month award for November.

Move to Borussia Dortmund
German club Borussia Dortmund is the prime destination for young players looking to develop their game.
After his impressive show throughout the 2019/2020 season, several football clubs were pining after Jude Bellingham’s signature, but the young midfielder chose Dortmund. He made his debut in 2020 against Borussia Mönchengladbach. He established himself in the team and was a regular starter.
Bellingham played 61 games for Dortmund in the Bundesliga, scored 4, and assisted 11 goals. In the Champions League, he played 16 games. His debut against Stourbridge made him the youngest Englishman to start a UEFA Champions League match, a record previously held by Manchester City’s Phil Foden.
As Bellingham’s performance dominated the news, European clubs kept following up on him. Manchester United and Liverpool were keen on him, but as players always say, when Real Madrid calls, you answer.
Jude Bellingham’s England Career
The rising English football star debuted for the Three Lions in 2020. He became the youngest player after Theo Walcott and Wayne Rooney to play for England. He was part of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 and World Cup squad. Jude scored his first senior international goal in their 6-2 win over Iran in Qatar. So far, he has 24 caps and 1 goal.
Jude Bellingham has everything going for him. Can he become the biggest player of his generation? Some have already predicted that he’ll win the Balon d’Or someday. For now, we’ll enjoy what he has to offer.
