Here are the 7 amazing podcasts on black health matters to listen to.

1. Black Women’s Health Podcast

Dr. Sharan Abdul-Rahman, MD, hosts The Black Woman’s Health Podcast. She’s an obstetrician-gynecologist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania affiliated with several hospitals in the area, including Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian. This podcast provides a positive spin and particular emphasis on black women’s health. 

In the podcast, health is broadly used to encompass mental, physical, social, and financial well-being. The podcast celebrates all aspects of the black woman, including her virginal, pelvic, and sexual health.

3. Black Girls Heal podcast

This podcast helps black women break out of the cycle of unhealthy relationships and improve their lives. In every episode of the Black Girls Heal Podcast, the host, Shena Lashey, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Relationship Coach, talks about the fundamentals of intimacy, attachment issues & low self-esteem and what to do about them.

Tracie Collins hosts the Healthy Black Girl Podcast. She’s an American academic, physician, and government official serving as Cabinet Secretary of Health of New Mexico. The podcast creates a safe space for black women to discuss their health issues, share experiences, and learn from each other, and features different experts in the health industry. 

It also features interviews with inspiring Black women who have succeeded in various health and wellness fields. In general, I can say that the Healthy Black Girl Podcast is an excellent resource for Black women seeking knowledge, support, and encouragement on their health journeys. 6. My Black Body Podcast

Jessica Wilson, MS. RD., and Rawiyah Tariq, My Black Body Podcast hosts, believe that Black stories are vital to Black healing. Because of this belief, they’ve projected My Black Body Podcast as a container to share and grow nourishment for our collective bodies, minds, and spirits. 

The goal of the podcast is to serve as a living record. My Black Body Podcast provides listeners a platform to listen to Black stories told by Black people. Jessica Wilson, MS. RD., and Rawiyah Tariq want to ensure they play a vital role in preserving this moment for future generations.

7. Make It Make Sense POD

This isn’t your regular podcast. The host, Jalah Skye, clearly states her goal for the Make It Make Sense POD — “I aim to promote evolving in the black community backed by our black history. I want to touch strongly on mental health in our community. While using my and my team’s experiences, coping skills, and knowledgeable sources.”

Jalah Skye established Make It Make Sense POD to help black people be self-aware.  And also act as a voice for those silently battling mental health problems in their daily lives. However, she made it known that she isn’t a licensed therapist, but her only aim is to help increase awareness of the everyday struggles of her and others throughout the healing journey. 

You can always find all sources used in the description of each podcast. What I like about the Make It Make Sense POD is that it’s always open to topic suggestions, feedback, and more. It’s available on many platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Podchaser, Audacy, and Player FM
