Here are some steps to help your child read letter sounds:

  1. Gather a marker, whiteboard, and letter sound cards.
  2. You can’t start teaching your child to read words. So, write the letter sounds down on paper or use letter sound cards. Make sure they are big enough for your child to read.
  3. Teach your child to read the letter sounds one at a time by reading out loud accurately in any order and at any time.
  4. Once you have accomplished the teaching, let your child blend 2 and 3-letter words.
  5. You can use a phonetic primer after your child can read some words.
  6. You can make your child read sight words learned through the sight to help your kid become fluent.

Tips to Help You Teach Child Letter Sounds

Sometimes, additional tips help you achieve your goal using fun ways to teach letter sounds. What better way to help your child learn to read? Here are a few:

  • Read letter sounds and ask your child to write the words similar to the sounds, or write down the letter sounds
  • Write letters on a piece of paper or cards, then lift it for your child to read
  • Hold some word games connecting sounds with syllables
  • Help your child match the letters in their name with the corresponding sound.
