15. Target Centre – 18, 798
The Target Centre is one of the biggest NBA stadiums. It’s the home ground for the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was opened in 1990 and It’s the second-oldest stadium in the league after the Madison Square Gardens. Its cost of construction is $104 million and has been renovated three times in 2004, 2014, and 2017.
14. Amway Centre – 18,846
The Amway Centre is one of the biggest NBA stadiums. It’s in Downtown Orlando, Florida and is the home ground for Orlando Magic. The Amway Centre was opened in 2010 at a cost of $480 million and is still in pristine condition. The stadium is multipurpose, hosting hockey, arena football and concerts.

13. Crypto.com Arena – 19,060
With a capacity of 19,060, the Crytpo.com Arena, formerly known as the Staples Centre, is the 13th biggest NBA stadium. The name change occurred after a Singaporean cryptocurrency company paid $700 million to have its name on the iconic facility.
The stadium was constructed between 1997 and 1999 for $375 million. It was officially opened in 1999. It’s home to two teams – the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Some famous players to have come out of the LA Lakers include the late Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, LeBron James, and Shaquille O’Neal.

12. Spectrum Center – 19, 077
Located in North Carolina, the Spectrum Center is the 12th biggest NBA stadium with a capacity of 19,077. It is the home of the Charlotte Hornets and is operated by the Hornets Sports Entertainment. The Spectrum Center was opened in 2005 and has so far been constructed once in 2016. Its construction cost $260 million.
11. American Airlines Centre – 19, 200
The America Airlines Centre broke ground in 1999 and was officially opened in 2001 at $420 million. Before it opened, American Airlines bought the naming rights for $195 million hence the name. Located in Dallas, Texas, it’s home to the Dallas Mavericks, who share the arena with the National Hockey League team Dallas Stars.

10. Moda Centre – 19, 393
Located in Portland, the Moda Centre is home to the Portland Trailblazers. With a capacity of 19,393, it’s the 10th biggest NBA stadium. It was formerly called the Rose Garden and, in 2013, renamed the Moda Centre after it partnered with Moda Health. The insurance company bought the naming rights for about $4 million annually.
The stadium was opened in 1995 at the cost of $262 million. It has been home to teams like Portland Winterhawks, Portland Forest Dragons, and the Portland Pythons.
9. Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse – 19, 432
The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is the home to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It officially opened its doors in 1994 under the name Gund Arena. In 2005, it was renamed Quickest Loans Arena after the owner of the mortgagee company Dan Gilbert bought it with the naming rights for $375 million.
14 years later, it was renamed again to the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at a time when it underwent a $185 million renovation. The facility has also been used by other teams like Cleveland Lumberjacks, Cleveland Rockers, and the Cleveland Monsters.
8. Ball Arena – 19, 520
The Ball Arena, formerly the Pepsi Center, is the 8th biggest NBA stadium with a capacity to host 19,520 fans. It’s home to the Denver Nuggets in Denver, Colorado. The name change occurred after Ball Corporation partnered with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE).

The venue was opened in 1999 under the name Pepsi Centre at $187 million. It has hosted some of the biggest NBA games, like the 2005 NBA All-Star Game, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men’s Basketball Tournament, and the NCAA Women’s Finals Four.

7. Kaseya Centre – 19, 600
Opened in 1999, the Kaseya Centre has been renamed twice. It was initially referred to as the American Airlines Arena, a name that lasted 22 years. In 2021, its naming rights were acquired by the FTX cryptocurrency company for $135 million for the next 19 years. The stadium became the FTX Arena.
However, with the collapse of FTX, the Miami Heat immediately dropped the name FTX and renamed it Miami-Dade Arena. Not long after, the name changed again to Kaseya Center after the software company Kaseya bought the naming rights for $117 million.
The arena, the home of Miami Heats, has hosted some notable events like the 2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2023 NBA Finals.
6. Scotiabank Arena – 19, 800
The Scotiabank Arena is home to the Canadian team Toronto Raptors. It is located in Ontario, Canada, and its capacity of 19, 800 makes it one of the biggest NBA stadiums. It was officially opened in 1999 at a cost of $404 million. Like many other arenas, it has undergone a name change from Air Canada Centre at the time of launch to Scotiabank in 2018.

5. Madison Square Gardens – 19, 812
The Madison Square Gardens is an iconic venue that has played host to some of the most memorable events in the world of sports. It is the oldest venue and the 5th biggest NBA stadium. It is the home of the New York Knicks since it opened in 1968 at a cost of $123 million.
The MSG was renovated between 1989 and 1991 and between 2011 and 2013. It hosted the NBA Star All-games in 1973, 1994, 1998, and 2015.
4. Little Caesars Arena – 20,332
The Little Caesars Arena is the home to the Detroit Pistons. It is located in Detroit, Michigan. The arena opened in 2017, making it one of the biggest NBA stadiums and one of the newest. It was built for three years to the tune of $862.9 million. The stadium hasn’t hosted any major basketball event.
3. Capital One Arena – 20, 356
The Capital One Arena, formerly called the MCI Center and the Verizon Centre is the home to the Washington Wizards. It is the third biggest NBA stadium, with a capacity of 20,356. The arena officially opened in 1997 in Washington, D.C, costing $260 million. The Washington Capitals and the Georgetown Hoyas use the facility.

The Wells Fargo Centre is the second biggest NBA stadium, with a capacity of 20,478. It is located in Philadephia, Pennsylvania, and is home to the Philadelphia 76ers. It took two years to construct the arena, which cost $210 million.
The stadium has undergone multiple name changes. It was named the Core States Centre during its launch and became the First Union and Wachovia. Apart from basketball, the venue also hosts the hockey team Philadelphia Flyers, the Lacrosse team Philadelphia Wings and the NCAA team Villanova Wildcats.
1. United Centre – 20, 917
The United Centre is the biggest NBA stadium, with a capacity of 20,917. It is home to the Chicago Bulls. It was opened in 1994 and has witnessed some of the biggest events in the game. In this arena, the Chicago Bulls won three consecutive championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998. The United Centre is where the stature of the great Michael Jordan was built.
The stadium was constructed for $175 million and has undergone renovation twice, first in 2009/10 and in 2014. It is also the home of the hockey team, the Chicago Blackhawks.
