Are you wondering where you can watch the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023? The continent’s biggest football showpiece kicks off on January 13 to February 11 in Cote d’Ivoire and you can follow all 52 games on various channels. 

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has broadcast partners across Africa, South America, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and North America. This means that you can watch every game live, regardless of your geographical location. These are the 10 channels that’ll air the games.

BBC

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) will televise 10 games of AFCON 2023, including the final, semi-finals, two quarter-finals and the opening game. The games will be on BBC Three and BBC Two and can also be seen on BBC iPlayer and online.

BeIN Sport

Viewers in the United States, Canada, Malaysia and Japan, among other countries, can watch AFCON 2023 on BeIN Sports. The Qatar-based media company has four MAX channels dedicated to AFCON 2023 coverage in English, Arabic, and French. 

Max 1 and Max 2 will have Arabic coverage and Max 3 and Max 4 will transmit action through English and French. On top of that, you’ll have rolling news coverage, behind-the-scenes, exclusive coverage, documentaries, highlights and more on BeIN Sports.

CANAL+

Francophone countries in Africa can also tune into CANAL+ and watch their favorite players battle it out for the biggest football title in the continent. These countries include Senegal, Cameroon and Ivory Coast.

DStv and GOtv

After a leaked statement made rounds on social media alleging that DSTV won’t be airing AFCON matches, the company confirmed that it secured rights and will show the games. This after MultiChoice which operates DStv and GOtv, agreed with World TV to beam the matches. 

SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha said that they’ll always consider the happiness of viewers. They broadcast in 50 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Ghana Television

Ghana Sports Plus, under the auspices of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), is the official broadcast partner for AFCON 2023 in Ghana. It’s a free-to-air channel, meaning Ghanaians won’t have to pay any fees to follow the action. Alternatively, you can subscribe to HD+ which partnered with GBC to show the games.

New World TV

New World TV is the official broadcast rights holder for the Africa Cup of Nations for the next three years, 2023 to 2025. It outbid South African giant MultiChoice and signed the deal with CAF in December 2023. 

The broadcaster is based in Togo and will transmit live proceedings throughout the Francophone region with plans of expanding its coverage to 46 Sub-Saharan countries. It’ll air matches in several languages: Portuguese, French, English, Swahili, Wolof, Bambara and Ewe. 

Apart from AFCON, New World TV will televise other CAF events like the CAF Champions League and the U17 and U20 AFCON.

Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)

The federal government-owned television outlet reached an agreement with AfroSport TV to bring AFCON 2023 action live to Nigerian viewers. NTA is the biggest television network in the country, meaning that most Nigerians will be able to watch the Super Eagles attempt to win the tournament.

SABC

South African viewers can tune into the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) which will beam all AFCON 2023 games. The public broadcaster promises comprehensive coverage with preview and review shows, highlights and news across its channels on radio and digital platforms.

Star Times

Chinese media company StarTimes, which is in 10 African countries, secured rights to show AFCON 2023. Its coverage includes Anglophone and Lusophone countries with expansion plans to other regions. StarTimes CEO expressed his excitement, stating that they are ready to fulfil their mandate of bringing such experiences to their viewers.

Sky Sports

If you’re in the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, you can follow AFCON 2023 on Sky Sports Football, Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports Digital. The media company transmitted live action of all the matches in 2021 and continues to show the event.
