World Music Therapy Day is marked on the 1st of March annually. It’s a day people globally celebrate music’s healing power.

Call on Dr Feel Good

One of the common disorders folks in the United States and other parts of the world seek healing for is depression. Let’s be sincere, with all life challenges, it’s not always an easy thing to maintain good mental health. But music can help reduce stress. 

Neuroscientists have discovered that music makes you feel good. That’s because listening to music helps stimulate the reward center of your brain, which in return generates a hit of dopamine that makes you feel good. 

However, the type of music that’ll make you feel good will depend on your personal preference. That said, one of the activities you can do on 1st March is simply to listen to your favorite songs and allow your brain to perform its magic. 

Make a Donation 

There are many organizations in the United States and across the globe whose goal is to raise funds for music therapy programs. Look for such organizations within your locality and make a donation. 

Besides donating to an organization, you can also make a direct donation to a music therapy program in your community. You can find such programs in hospitals, mental health facilities, long-term care homes, and group homes.

Host a Musical Event

Another way to celebrate World Music Therapy Day is to organize a musical event in your area. It can be an open mic night, a concert, or even a jam session where folks can come and make music and celebrate its therapeutic benefits

Apart from holding a physical music event, you can also host a virtual one using any of your favorite social media platforms. Regardless of whether you’re holding it online or offline, the common goal should be to get people to enjoy music and feel good that day.

Organize Educational Workshop

Most people aren’t aware of the healing power of music. So, World Music Therapy Day is the right time to educate them on the topic. 

You can organize an online or offline educational workshop where you’ll teach them how it works and how to take advantage of it for better mental health. During your workshop, make sure you can help with practical sessions where you demonstrate live how to do it and encourage your participants to do the same as well. Offer to Volunteer

On March 1, many government and non-governmental organizations host events to celebrate the therapeutic benefits. So, you can volunteer to offer your musical talent in any of the events within your locality.

Initiate a Social Media Campaign

The United States has over 300 million social media users. And this number is predicted to go up in 2024. Looking at the large number of people on social media, starting a campaign using #WorldMusicTherapyDay to raise awareness will be a great way to mark the celebration. 

Besides starting a fresh one, you can also look around to see if there are ongoing World Music Therapy Day social media campaigns that you can join.

Create a Music Playlist

While the music that makes different people feel good is based on preference and taste, scientists have picked out certain feel-good factors relating to popular music. These include a high tempo, major lyrics and keys you know.

So, if you’re familiar with some feel-good music recommended by scientists, you can create a playlist using any of the online music apps and share it with people within your contacts.

Another way to mark the celebration is to wear a branded t-shirt to create awareness about it. Generally, there are people who may not know or have forgotten about the event. But when they see you wearing the T-shirt, they’ll ask questions.

March 1 is the day that people across the globe celebrate how music makes life rewarding and better.
