Breakdancing

For the first time in the history of the Olympics, breakdancing which is referred to as breaking by the Olympics, will be introduced as an Olympics sport in the 2024 games in Paris. How exactly is it a sport? 

It combines athleticism in its routines, hence the justification for having it. Many people associate breakdancing with music, which is how it became popular, through hip-hop culture in New York where it originated.

Flag Football

Flag football is one of the Summer Olympics sports you might not be aware of. It’s like American football, but not as aggressive. Contact between players isn’t allowed and they don’t wear the protective gear that NFL players wear. The tackling in flag football is interesting. You do it by removing a flag from the back of an opponent.

How do you synchronize with yourself? How did the judges measure that? It’s no longer part of the games but it’s still practised.

You might not think of it as a sport but at the professional level, it’s combined with gymnastics which might change how you view it. The 2000 Sydney games is where it was first introduced. The men and women compete under the gymnastics category.
