Breakdancing

For the first time in the history of the Olympics, breakdancing which is referred to as breaking by the Olympics, will be introduced as an Olympics sport in the 2024 games in Paris. How exactly is it a sport? 

It combines athleticism in its routines, hence the justification for having it. Many people associate breakdancing with music, which is how it became popular, through hip-hop culture in New York where it originated.

Flag Football

Flag football is one of the Summer Olympics sports you might not be aware of. It’s like American football, but not as aggressive. Contact between players isn’t allowed and they don’t wear the protective gear that NFL players wear. The tackling in flag football is interesting. You do it by removing a flag from the back of an opponent.

Horse Jumping

If you are a fan of equestrian sports, this might be one of the Summer Olympics Sports you should look forward to. 

The thing with horse jumping is that the horse seemingly does all the work, even though it’s been trained by the rider or its owner.

When you talk about synchronization, it’s normally with other people. However, solo synchronized swimming was a thing between 1984 and 1992 and many people found it mindboggling. How do you synchronize with yourself? How did the judges measure that? It’s no longer part of the games but it’s still practised.

Shooting

Shooting is a popular sport and it has a lot of categories. It requires a lot of focus and mental preparation to do it right. However, you might not be accustomed to watching it as a sport but rather as a leisure activity. These have been part of the Olympics since the 1896 Summer Olympics Games.

Believe it or not, the trampoline is on the list of Summer Olympics sports. You might not think of it as a sport but at the professional level, it’s combined with gymnastics which might change how you view it. The 2000 Sydney games is where it was first introduced. The men and women compete under the gymnastics category.
