Kylian Mbappe’s Contract at PSG
After Kylian Mbappe’s breakthrough season as a Monaco player in 2016/17, helping the club reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, PSG offered him a loan deal in 2017.
After a successful spell, the Saudi-owned club made him the second-most-expensive transfer in world football €180 million or $194 million behind former teammate Neymar, who joined on €222 million or $240 million.
He signed a five-year deal which was renewed in 2023 with an option of leaving at the end of the 2024 season.

Power Struggle
However, the talks between him and his employer haven’t always been smooth. In 2023, Mbappe was omitted from the first-team training after he refused to extend his contract which meant he would leave on a free transfer.
PSG have been adamant they won’t sell the Frenchman for free as they’d like to get some money after pouring millions on the striker. Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal offered GBP 259 million but Mbappe declined the offer and was ready to sit out the entire season.
After a hard stance between the two parties, Mbappe held talks with PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi after which he was reinstated back to the squad and expressed his commitment to the club.

PSG Exit
Despite the agreement made between both parties, the rumours of Mbappe’s exit never went away. Mbappe finally cleared the air, stating he’ll leave the club at the end of 2024. However, his transfer will still not be as easy as it appears.
Mbappe assured PSG that he’ll never leave on a free transfer, so that could mean that he sacrifices his wages to secure a deal with a new club, likely Real Madrid, or Madrid will have to meet a huge fee, so a lot of negotiations will go on between the teams.

Possible Destination
Spanish club Real Madrid has always displayed interest in signing Kylian Mbappe. It looks like they’ll finally land his signature. Madrid is prepared to make him the best-paid player in their history.
Reports indicate that he’s already penned a five-year mouthwatering deal with the Spanish giants, worth between £12 million and £17m with a sign-on fee of around £85.5m.
As speculation continues about Kylian Mbappe’s contract and his future, this will bring to an end a frosty relationship between him and PSG. It’ll also bring an end to time at the French capital. He’s only 25 years old and still has a lot to give. If he chooses to join Real Madrid, football fans will have an exciting time watching him in the Spanish League and possibly, winning more accolades.
