The best NFL wide receivers are fast, good catchers, big and can find open spaces as they anticipate the ball from the quarterback. Their importance to a team is closely tied to the quarterback. They play a crucial role in the offense and every team is willing to pour money to buy a good wide receiver. Over the years, the NFL has produced wide receivers who have helped them win championships.

Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown was one of the best NFL wide receivers in the game. He was a long-time Pittsburgh Steelers player who drafted him in 2010. Brown played for the Oakland Raiders, the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During his time at the Steelers, Brown led the league in catches and touchdowns.

In 2014 and 2017, he was the receiving yards leader and in 2018, was the receiving touchdown leader. Brown won the Super Bowl in 2020 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He finished his career with 12,291 receiving yards, 2,934 return yards and 5 return touchdowns.

Calvin Johnson

Johnson surprisingly retired from the game at the age of 30, citing health issues and a loss of passion for the game. Despite that, his time in the league is fondly remembered. Nicknamed the Megatron, he’s still widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers of all time.

Johnson set the record for the most receiving yards with 1,964. He also holds the record for the most consecutive 100-yard receiving games with 8. Johnson played for the Detroit Lions between 2007 to 2015.

Jerry Rice

Rice is undoubtedly the best wide receiver in NFL history. His records will take a long to break. He has the most receiving yards with 22,895, touchdowns with 197, and receptions with 1,549. In his illustrious career, Rice was a six-time NLF Receiving touchdown leader and receiving leader. He won the Super Bowl thrice, made it into the Pro Bowl 13 times and was in the First Team All-Pro 10 times.

Tim Brown

Tim Brown was the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy. Although his NFL career started slowly, he still put in impressive performances. In 1993, Brown found his footing, making 1000 receiving yards and never looked back.

For the next seasons until 2001, Brown registered more than 1000 receiving yards. In 1997, he was the NFL’s co-receptions leader and was a nine-time Pro Bowl. Brown played for the Los Angeles Raiders/Oakland Raiders and the Tampa Buccaneers.

Larry Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald was a first-round third pick for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2004 NFL draft. He spent his entire career here etching his name as one of the best wide receivers of all time. Fitzgerald was the youngest wide receiver to make 1000 career passes.

He has the second most receiving yards in the NFL with 17,492. In 2005 and 2016, Fitzgerald was the NFL reception leader. 

Marvin Harrison

Harrison is remembered for his partnership with Peyton Manning at the Indianapolis Colts. This duo saw him produced the highest completion of 953, yards (12,766), and touchdowns (112) between a wide receiver and quarterback.

In 1999 and 2002, Harrison was the NFL receiving yards leader and in 2000 and 2002, he was the NFL Receptions Leader. He finished his career with 14,580 receiving yards.

Terrel Owens

Terrel Owens is one of four wide receivers to make 15,000 yards. He played for several teams including the

• San Francisco 49ers
• Philadelphia Eagles
• Dallas Cowboys
• Buffalo Bills
• Cincinnati Bengals
• Seattle Seahawks.

Owens was a five-time First-Team All-Pro, a six-time Pro Bowl and a three-time NFL Receiving touchdown Leader. He’s in the San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame.

Randy Moss

Moss left defensive backs bamboozled with his ball-catching skills. He ran them ragged and put on some of the best performances from a wide receiver in NFL history. He played for the:

• Minnesota Vikings
• Oakland Raiders
• New England Patriots
• Tennessee Titans
• San Francisco 49ers.  

Moss holds the record for the most touchdowns in a single season with 23 and the most receiving touchdowns in a rookie season with 17. He finished his career with 15,292 receiving yards.
