Not every player on the basketball court always follows the rules. For example, suspended NBA players tend to put their frustrations on display by aggressively challenging the opponent, which, in some cases, has led to the suspension of players. Getting a suspension once won’t damage a player’s credibility but a repeat offender risks losing on opportunities due to their bad reputation.

Latrell Sprewell

Sprewell had a long list of incidents. From threatening fellow players and coaches, he’d built a nasty reputation for on-court misdemeanors. He threatened to shoot a teammate and also fought with another.

In 1997, he choked his coach, Peter John Carlesimo, and threatened to kill him after he criticized his passing. He was suspended for 10 games, which was significantly increased to 82 before its reduction to 68. Golden State Warriors terminated his contract but after a legal challenge, it was reinstated.

Miles Bridges

Miles missed the 2022/23 season after the mother of his children filed felony charges of domestic violence against him. As a result, the NBA said he had already served 20 games of suspension but missed the first 10 games in the 2023/24 season after signing a one-year contract. Bridges is now back and fully playing with the Hornets.

For his unsportsmanlike behavior, he was suspended for the rest of the 2004/05 season and missed 96 games.

Malik Beasley

Beasley’s name entered the suspended NBA players list in 2021 when he was found in possession of marijuana and stolen property. Beasley missed 12 games after he was arrested but hasn’t been in trouble anymore.

NBA players can be unnecessarily aggressive. For some, it might be due to frustration when the game isn’t going well and for others, it could be because of personal reasons.
