Stay Away from the Sun

The first thing you should do to relieve your skin from sunburn is stay indoors to avoid more heat damage. If you are still outdoors, find a shade or carry an umbrella or anything that will protect you from the sun.

Hydrate

If you want to cure sunburn, drink plenty of water. Sunburns draw water away from the body leading to dehydration. To reverse that, you should stay hydrated. 

Have a Cold Shower or Bath

A cold shower lowers your body temperature and cools sunburn, making it one of the best treatments for sunburned skin.  If you can’t handle a cold shower, you can use ice bags on your body.

Apply Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera gel is another sunburn solution that you can use at home. Aloe vera is known for its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties, that will counter the effects on your skin. Oatmeals are a healthy breakfast option but it’s also a sunburn remedy. It hydrates the skin by trapping moisture and eliminates dryness and flaky skin. Some types of oatmeal carry anti-inflammatory properties which strengthen your skin.

Use Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of the sunburn remedies you might not have thought of. As an alkaline substance, it balances your skin’s pH level and reduces the itchiness. Add a couple of spoonfuls of baking soda to your bathtub and soak yourself for about 15 to 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can create a paste and apply it to your body.

Black tea is a homemade remedy for sunburns. It reduces inflammation and repairs skin damage. The tannins in the tea reduce pain, which restores your skin. Soak the teabags in water and place them on the damaged skin.

Cucumbers 

Cucumbers are a mainstay in the beauty world, which is why you find them in spas. You can also use them on your sunburned skin to alleviate the irritation. Cucumbers have anti-oxidants, minerals, potassium, magnesium and other properties. Make a paste that you can apply to your skin.

Yoghurt

Yoghurt will help with your sunburn. It has enzymes, lactic and probiotics that exfoliate the skin. Apply it on your sunburned skin and let it stay for 15 minutes and wash it off. Do this repeatedly until your sunburn wears off.
