The 2022 BET Awards is one that fans and the who’s-who in the entertainment industry won’t forget quickly. The night was filled with glitz, glamour, electric music performances, and hotshot fashion moments on the red carpet as the world’s biggest stars all gathered to celebrate black pop culture. In case you missed it all, we’re here with a recap of the show’s highlights and the BET Awards 2022 winners.
Highlights of the BET Awards 2022
On Sunday, 26th of June 2022, the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles lit up to celebrate all the African American and Black creatives in film, music, television, and sports.

The award show, also known as “Culture’s Biggest Night,” saw actress and singer Taraji P. Henson returning as the host after gracefully hosting the show last year.
Embed from Getty ImagesThere were exhilarating music performances from Latto, Lizzo, Kirk Franklin, Brandy, Mariah Carey, Roddy Rich, Fireboy DML, Jack Harlow, Babyface, Chance the Rapper, GIVĒON, Chlöe, and Joey Bada$$, amongst others.
One of the night’s highlights was Diddy (Sean Combs) receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication and contributions to the music industry. The feat has been achieved by music legends such as Whitney Houston and Prince.
Doja Cat led the nominations with six nods for her album Planet Her and the songs on it. Drake and Ari Lennox followed, each receiving four nominations. They were followed by Chlöe, Baby Keem, Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak), Future, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Mary J. Blige, and Tems, who each received three nominations.
Of course, in an award show, there are nominees and winners. The talented duo of Bruno Mars and Anderson . Paak led the league of winners with a collective of three awards. The pair went home with all the categories they were nominated for, including best group and album of the year for “An Evening with Silk Sonic.” .Paak also won video director of the year.
