The sweet potato product you enjoy so much is George Carver’s invention. Carver uncovered new ways of using sweet potatoes. What’s more, he processed them into rubber, glue, dyes, vinegar, flour, and more. These ideas, in turn, boosted farmers’ income.

Soil Enrichment Methods

Cotton sucked nutrients out of soils. Thus, Carver suggested adding nitrogen, phosphorus, lime, and more to restore nutrients. This idea revived dead soil and restored its productivity. In turn, it led to more planting and large harvesting.

Leftover crop parts, like turning cotton stalks into paper, found new uses, thanks to George. Corn cob fires provided heat. Peanut hull wallboard made cheap housing. The end product was reducing waste, and farmers saved money by using debris.

The genius used pantry plants to invent money-saving versions of pantry staples. They include paints, adhesives, oils, and stains. Due to its money-saving ability, rural families appreciated this thrifty household help.

Last on the list is producing fuel out of waste peanuts. The inventor created clean-burning fuels from leftover peanut shells and cotton debris into briquettes. Farmers used these biodegradable fuels instead of coal, saving them money. 

George Washington Carver was a great scientist, environmentalist, and inventor. He invented many products from peanuts, sweet potatoes, soybeans, and other plants. He did all this even though he was born a slave and faced racism and poverty. Carver wasn’t just “the peanut man” – he was a genius who used his skills and imagination to make the world better.
