He split his time between Centre Federal du Basket-Ball and the French U21 League. At the end of the season, he left Nanterre and signed a three-year contract with ASVEL Villeurbanne

His time with ASVEL Villeurbanne was shaky, with injuries derailing him. However, when he got the chance to play, he demonstrated why he courted all the hype. He finished the season as the Pro A Best Young Player, winning the Pro A Championship, averaging 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He opted out of his contract.

For the 2023/23 season, he played in the top-tier basketball league in France Metropolitans 92 in the LNB Pro A. He played a total of 34 games in the regular season. Wembanyahma averaged 21.6 points per game, 10.4 rebounds per game and 3.1 blocks per game.

Victor Wembanyama’s NBA Draft Pick

Victor Wemnanyama was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs as the number-one pick in the NBA 2023. The last time a player had this kind of hype was in 2003 when LeBron James was drafted by Cleveland Cavaliers. In fact, King James, as he’s referred to, described Wembanyama as an “alien” and “generational talent”.

On his part, Wembanyama said he felt lucky and couldn’t wait to start: “San Antonio is synonymous with winning. As a franchise, they have a culture and experience in winning and making and creating good players so, I really can’t wait.”

Victor Wembanyama’s Height

The power forward stands at 7 foot 3.5 inches making him the second tallest NBA player in the coming 2023 season. Houston Rockets player Boban Marjanovic is the tallest player at 7 foot 4 inches. That said, Wembanyama doesn’t seem to be inhibited by his height. Contrary to what fans might expect, that he’ll just have his back on the basket waiting to throw the ball in, he’s all over the floor scoring and blocking from other players.

Will Victor Wembanyama live up to the expectation? To find out about that, you’ll need to keep up with the basketball when the new season begins.
