Every European nation dreams of winning the European Championships or the UEFA Euro. It’s the most prestigious tournament on the continent, running since 1960. Over the years, it has grown from 17 to 24 teams. The competition has produced unforgettable moments including Greece’s victory in 2004. This post contains the Euros winners list.

Germany – 3 Titles
Germany starts our Euros winners list, winning 3 titles in 1972, 1980, and 1996. The first two titles were won by West Germany and the third by United Germany. They’ve made 14 Euros appearances and hosted the events twice, in 1988 and 2024. The country’s biggest victory was a 5-1 win against Scotland and the heaviest loss was a 3-0 win against Portugal.

Spain – 3 Titles
Spain won three titles in 1964, 2008 and 2012. They won the World Cup in 2010 when they were the most dominant national football team. They’ve made 12 appearances and hosted the event once, 1964. Spain’s biggest victory was a 5-0 win against Slovakia and its heaviest defeat was a 2-0 defeat to Italy.

France – 2 Titles
France’s two titles came in 1984 and 2000. The country has played in the tournament 11 times and hosted it thrice, 1960, 1984 and 2016. Their biggest victory was a 5-0 win against Belgium in 1984 and their biggest loss came against the Netherlands in a 4-1 defeat in 2008.

Italy – 2 Titles
Italy is the reigning champions of the Euros after its 2020 victory against England. They won their first title as hosts in 1968. They also welcomed the competition again in 1980 and finished fourth. The Azzurri’s best record is a 3-0 win against Switzerland and Italy, and its biggest defeat is a 5-0 against Spain. Italy has played in the Euros 11 times.

Netherlands – 1 Title
The Oranje last won the Euros in 1988 and is one of five countries on our Euros winners list with one title. They have also hosted the tournament once, in 2000, together with Belgium. The country’s biggest victory was a 6-1 win against Yugoslavia and the biggest defeat against England.

Greece – 1 Title
Greece is the most unexpected winner of the Euros. They achieved this feat in 2004 by defeating Portugal 1-0 in the final.

Denmark – 1 Title
Denmark won its only Euros title in 1992. They hosted the competition in 2020 finished in the semi-finals stage and have been in the tournament 10 times. Their biggest victory was a 5-0 victory in 1984 against Yugoslavia and their heaviest defeat was a 3-0 defeat against the Czech Republic.
Portugal – 1 Title
The last time Portugal won the Euros was in 2016. Their first final appearance was in 1984. They hosted the event in 2004 and have made 9 European Championship appearances. Their biggest victory was against Turkiye, who they beat 3-0 and the biggest defeat was against Germany and Georgia who they beat 4-2 and 2-0.
Soviet Union – 1 Title
At the time of the tournament, Russia was known as the Soviet Union. It defeated Yugoslavia in the final. The country isn’t allowed to participate in any European event after invading Ukraine.
Czechia – 1 Title
Czechia is yet to win the tournament as an independent nation. Previously known as Czechoslovakia, it won the event in 1976 and was runners-up in 1996 as the Czech Republic. Its biggest victory was a 3-0 win against Denmark and its biggest defeat was a 4-1 and a 3-0 defeat to Russia and the Soviet Union.
