Allyson Swaby’s Club Career

Allyson’s journey goes back to her high school days. She represented William Hall High School between 2010 and 2013 and Connecticut FC from 2011 to 2014. The defender played for her college team, Boston College, between 2014 and 2017.

2018 Swaby started her senior career in Iceland with a third-division team, Fjarðab/Höttur/Leiknir. She made a total of 11 appearances and scored five goals. Before the end of the year, Italian club AS Roma bought her. Roma was promoted to the top-tier league and sought players to strengthen its squad.

She quickly became an influential team member and was a regular part of the starting line-up, playing either as a center-back or full-back. Eventually, the club offered Swaby a multi-year contract in 2020, keeping her at the club until 2022. Swaby won the Coppa Italia with the team before her departure, which she says “was meant to move her closer to her family.”

Recalling her time in Italy and its significance in her career, she said:

“Rome functioned as an accelerator. I came out of college and started playing that summer. Before that, I truly never thought it could be my career.” she told Hyperbeast.

Swaby joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Angel City FC. That said, she was loaned out to French club Paris Saint Germain until June 2023.
