Triple J’s Smokehouse
Triple J’s Smokehouse was established in 1994 by Rhonda and Jarrett Scales. Jarrett is a Houston native, and Rhonda is from Indianapolis, Indiana. They met at Purdue University and later moved to Houston to teach. Jarrett convinced her to join the restaurant and run the catering side of the business. The facility officially opened in 1998. In 2014 and 2015, they received recognition for the Best Value Food at Rodeo Houston because they serve freshly-cooked food daily. They are located on 6715 Homestead Rd, Houston, Texas, 77028.
Burns Original BBQ
The Burns Original BBQ is the best place in Houston, Texas, to have BBQ. Rory Burns Sr. established the restaurant in 1973, starting out as a small facility, selling meals to the Acre Home Community. He crafted his special BBQ rub and sauce, which resulted in more demand. Consequently, it birthed the Burns Original BBQ, which operates until today. Some of their signature dishes include rib sandwiches and loaded baked potatoes.

Gatlin’s BBQ
Gatlin’s BBQ opened its doors in 201,0, serving the classic Southern barbeque. It’s a family-owned restaurant that quickly rose to become a favorite among Houston residents. Currently, it’s located in Oak Forest, 3510 Ella Boulevard, Houston, Texas, 77018. It opens from Monday to Saturday between 7 am and 6 pm, closes on Sunday, and serves breakfast between 7 am and 10 am.
Houston This Is It Soul Food
Houston This Is It Soul Food is a family-owned restaurant that has existed since 1959. Its first generation founders are Frank and Mattie Jones, who left it for Ruby Del Side and his children, and now the fourth generation owners are led by Craig Joseph. The restaurant has two locations, Houston and Humble. The menu comprises oxtails, fried chicken, gumbo, mac & cheese and many other items.

Cool Runnings Jamaica Grill is located at 8270 W Belfort Avenue, Houston Tx 77071, operating from Monday to Sunday. From Monday to Thursday, it runs between 8 am and 10 pm, from Friday & Saturday, it operates between 8 am and 11 pm and on Sunday from 10 am and 10 pm. It offers different services from catering by the tray, full-service catering, food track catering, party hall rental and dining room catering.

Mico’s Hot Chicken
Mico grew up with a love for spicy food. Consequently, when she discovered hot chicken and ate it with spice, an idea settled in her mind. She knew she wanted to make something similar. As a result, Mico traveled to Nashville to explore Hot Chicken and was inspired to start her own venture. In 2019, Mico’s Hot Chicken opened shop, and Houstonians loved it. In six months, they moved from their food trailer to a brick-and-mortar facility.
Phil & Derek’s
Phil & Derek’s opened in 2010, serving Houston decadent flavors of a variety of soul foods. In addition to a memorable plate of food, the restaurant offers the perfect ambience to relax with live music, an array of drinks and a cajun-inspired menu.
