Knowing how to sleep in your hair is an important aspect of hair care, especially for black women who have their hair straightened or braided. You can’t sleep with it bare otherwise it will damage the styling and lead to freeze, due to contact with rough textured beddings. It’s for this reason that bonnets and head wraps exist-to help us maintain our hair. However, if you struggle using a bonnet, this tutorial will show you how to put hair in a bonnet.

How to Put Hair in a Bonnet
- Find a bonnet that has a satin layer on the inside. There are different types of bonnets that have straps and others don’t, so find one that works for you.
- Cover your hair with a bonnet. If it has straps, try and position the straps at the centre at the back of your head.
- Adjust the bonnet accordingly and then take the straps to the front of your head and cross the other over the first strap.
- From here, you can tie it the way you like. You can make a bow at the top of your head, you can take the straps to the back of your head and tack in the straps.
Wearing a bonnet is that easy? However, if you have long hair, you should find a way to tie it so it can properly fit inside the bonnet. Ensure you get one that has allowance to avoid tightness that’ll add pressure to your scalp.
