Shrimp Creole is a dish mostly prepared on special occasions. This special dish is a favorite of Cuba, a long-narrow and largest island in the Caribbean Sea.
Pour the olive oil into a cooking pan over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced onions and bell pepper and sauté for a minute.
Throw in the bay leaf and the chopped garlic, and stir the sauce.
Add the tomato sauce, the ketchup, and the white wine. Stir and allow the shrimp creole to boil for a minute.
Pour in the tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and white vinegar. Stir, cover , and allow it to boil for 10 minutes
Sprinkle salt to taste and pepper for a spicy feel
Add the fresh shrimp and stir the sauce to combine. Add a hot sauce, although this is optional.
Allow the shrimp to cook in the sauce for 5 minutes, then sprinkle fresh parsley on the shrimp creole.
Bring the sauce to medium heat or low and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
Turn off the heat and allow the sauce to cool for 5 minutes, then serve the shrimp creole with boiled rice. The total cooking time is just about 20 minutes, including the prep time.
